Disneyland Survival Guide for Empath’s:
Yesterday was a day I had been dreading for weeks: we were taking the girls to Disneyland. A person who is highly sensitive to sounds, sights and energies, can get overly stimulated and therefore anxious pretty quickly. Bracing for the worst, we went into the park and I’m happy to report that not only was it bearable, I had such a good time. Here is my Disneyland-survival-guide for empath’s:
1. Wake up early and give yourself time for your usual am self-care routine. Start it off right.
2. Clear and shield your energy for the day. There are so many ways to do this and it really is all about intention. Smoke medicine, mantra, Reiki symbols to name a few.
3. Pack items to help you “turn off” the outside, such as a book, earphones, eye mask etc.
4. Bring items that help you GROUND back into your own senses. A strong essential oil to sniff, high quality chocolate squares to suck on, a spray bottle of rose water to spritz etc.
5. Park as much healthy food as you’re willing to carry around. A sensitive system needs nourishment to thrive in a manufactured environment.
6. Have an “out” should things get desperate. For me that meant driving my own car.
7. Arrive just before the park opens. The park is least crowded before noon. It ramps up after that.
8. Get a Fastpass/Maxpass to save yourself waiting too long in the crowded heat for popular rides.
9. Go to Tom Sawyer Island midday to destimulate and rest! I napped on a secluded bench in the shade - for real!
10. Frontier land is the most “natural” so we spent most of our time there. Tomorrowland is a bit overwhelming (futuristic/sterile).
11. Skip the “herding” activities such as fireworks, parade, shows etc that people gather for hours in advance. Take advantage of shorter lines instead!
12. Leave before the nighttime events end. You want to get out before the mass exodus post-fireworks show. Best thing we did all day!
13. Oh and take pictures. I failed to do this which is why I don’t have a cute pic from our day to share with you.
Love,
Nicki
